NMPAT (Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust) provides Helmdon Primary School with music teachers who attend school weekly to provide the children with expert tuition on keyboard, woodwind, brass, strings, guitar and recorders. Lessons are open to KS2 children with the exception of the recorder group and orchestra which are open to children in Year 1 and above.
Parents purchase 33 NMPAT lessons per academic year. Fees are based upon a teaching time of 10 minutes per student (5 minutes for recorder groups). However, lessons will normally be given in small groups, e.g. 2 students in 20 minutes. All student absences are chargeable. However, if the teacher misses a lesson, this will be made up at another time. Lessons for all instruments (except recorder groups) will be charged at £66.00 per term and payment will be collected through your child’s Parent Pay account. Recorder Group members will be charged at £33.00 per term. Due dates for payments on Parent Pay for the 2016/2017 academic year are as follows: 5 September 2016, 5 January 2017 and 19 April 2017. Parents may pay annually in advance at a cost of £198 per annum (or £99 per annum for Recorder Group) in September 2016 if they prefer.
We enter and annual contract with NMPAT and, as such, the children are offered the opportunity of learning an instrument for a full school year only. As such, there is not be an opportunity to give notice to stop taking lessons during the school year, and full fees will be payable for the year. The exception to this will be the recorder group and orchestra, for which there is a written notice period of at least one school term (there being 6 school terms in the academic year). As a general rule, we only encourage children to learn one instrument at school with NMPAT as they do have to miss lesson time to have a music lesson. If you have any queries regarding this process please speak to or email Mrs Hedley in the office at the earliest opportunity (email@example.com).
